In 2010 Derrick reunited with Allen Towbin, Michael Parillo, and Phil Ristaino to record Agents of Venus: Bodvut. Ida Nielsen is a Danish bass player (and multi-instrumentalist & composer) who might be mostly known for the honorable task of holding down the low end for the legendary artist PRINCE. She joined his band, The New Power Generation, in 2010 and began touring immediately after. In 2013 the four-piece powerhouse rock band, 3rdeyegirl, was thrown into the mix and added a whole new row of venues and recordings. Ida was a member of his bands until his tragic and untimely passing in April 2016.
She describes playing with Prince as “a huge gift and as the most magical musical journey ever, and an on-going learning experience beyond all imagination.”
Ida also has a very funky project of her own and has just released her third solo album turnitup on which she produced, programmed and (except for the live drums) played all the instruments herself. The sound is best described as a mixture of old school funk & hiphop, including elements of reggae and world music -with ear catching melodies and lots of bass. Her first single, “SHOWMEWHATUGOT” (from turnitup) was hand picked personally by Prince to be “Purple Pick of the Week” on TIDAL when it was released.
Since the release of turnitup Ida has been touring and traveling the world with her band. She promises to deliver a smashing high energy funk show packed with good vibes and tight grooves!! You can’t fake the funk!!
